A Little About Ruby

Just my little corner of the world to share my love of Food, Wine, Cooking and the Culinary Arts. I greatly enjoy experiencing various cuisines, and when I have the time, I like get into the Kitchen and see what I can come up with.

Cooking has fascinated me since I was a teenager, and although I would from time to time try different recipes (I recall whipping up a Rabbit Stew for my Dad–he loved it), I never really delved into it. It’s only of late that my love and passion for food and cooking has been set aflame so to speak.

I’ve always collected cookbooks and various cooking magazines, and when I’m in a store, that’s the area you’ll most likely find me in. In fact, the two very first cookbooks that I purchased (I was about 16 or so) were The Betty Crocker Cookbook (literally used that one until it fell apart), and Julia Child’s “The Way to Cook.” I still have that one and reference it quite often. I say—“Learn from the Masters!”And in my opinion, she was definitely one of them.  I was greatly influenced by her cookbook and TV cooking shows. She is by far my all time favorite Chef. Classically trained Chefs have always intrigued me, and my thoughts are classical training lays the foundation for what ever else is out there. Of course some of the recipes that I will be cooking are from my Julia Child cookbooks.

Nothing like sitting down to a good meal to chase away the cares of the world and satisfy a famished appetite. Leaves you happy and satisfied…and full.I finally decided to create this page and post the recipes I love & enjoy, and of course others that I’ve come across that  just move me to attempt to recreate them. This is the beginning, so bear with me as I give this thing a whirl…I’m learning as I go along.

Food–It’s Universal! Can’t live without it.

Bon Appetit!

Your pulled pork creation was delicious. I am not a cook, per se, and do the majority of my cooking from recipes. But your dish and comments help to make me feel like I am on my way to being a culinarian. Thanks
